Web Based Training
Growing in popularity
over the last few years is the concept of web-based
training. Web-based training can be used as a
stand-alone tool or can be used in conjunction with
other training methods.
For example, some
companies choose a "self-paced" training program where
students log-on and walk through a web-based
curriculum. The curriculum is a training program
based solely on documentation. Students read
slide presentation, receive the step-by-step
instructions for performing a transaction, and can then
perform exercises during the web training
sessions. Performance results can be saved for
project team review.
Some companies use
software programs that allow a trainer to conduct
training sessions on the web. These sessions can
be live or they can be pre-recorded. The training
sessions are accessed through the web. Slide
presentations and system demonstrations can be used in
the session. One or many participation can attend
the web-based in the session. This type of
training reduces can reduce travel costs.
The key benefit of
web-based training is that the material is on-line
after the initial training program has ended and can be
an effective method of introducing changes and new
functionality after the system is implemented.
Web-based training
documentation can be linked to your ERP system so that,
while performing transactions, users invoke help
functionality and the help documentation that appears
will be the documentation that was developed
specifically for the company training program.
